Sorry my California is a T5.Sorry to hear that. I think you are now the 4th T6 owner on this thread to have negative news. Will you be informing administration following their e mail?

My 3 year warranty expires in March 2017 so a good time to remove seal in my opinion.Sorry to Disagree. I don't have the problem visible and I won't look until the end of the warranty. Why? Well once it is repaired you will only get 1 yrs warranty from the Body Shop. So if I claim late and they take their time doing the repair then It should be in reasonable condition just at the point I hit 100,000 miles and preparing for the next Campervan, being a T6/T7 or something else. So I see no rush.

If bubbles were showing above the seal (as some people have experienced) then I would report this as it is unsightly and VW should fix it.

I agree with WelshGas here.
I can't see it's worth losing much sleep over if the corrosion isn't visible yet. I can't on mine and I'm not going to check (as it would probably wind me up). Life's too short.
I would only approach VW if it were visible and if leaving it was going to cause long term issues. As far as I can tell it's just a surface issue occurring under the seal. Annoying yes, but a big issue? No.

When I took delivery of my T6 the tail gate bracket bolts had rust on them where they had obviously been torqued up after painting. I reported it to VW and they slapped some paint from a touch up stick on it. (I rubbed this off with my finger and did it properly with I got home)
I haven't checked the time limit of the anti perforation warranty, but I can't see it's worth pursuing until the corrosion is visible, or until your warranty is due to run out.
I bought the factory extended warranty and probably won't look until at least year 4.
I agree that it is very frustrating that this issue hasn't been resolved though.
T5 or T6?Ours had bubbles under the seal and then six month later they were above the seal, the corrosion works its way up slowly so I would advise people to check now or else you could be driving round with an unsightly roof for several years whilst you wait for the repair to be carried out.

For completeness, there was a pledge, lost somewhere in the T5 roof thread, that VW would repairs roofs reported to them within 6 years from mew. How that applies to T6s and if it still applies to T5s, is anyone's guess! Thanks for that, 3 years only.

I have written to VW for clarification on the 3 / 6 year warranty question. For completeness, there was a pledge, lost somewhere in the T5 roof thread, that VW would repairs roofs reported to them within 6 years from mew. How that applies to T6s and if it still applies to T5s, is anyone's guess!
Thanks for your very interesting explanation. I too had heard that a zinc coating was being used to try to cure this issue. Can anyone confirm this?
