When will campsites reopen ?

I'd have no problem visiting a site as soon as they reopen if I knew my family was immune. We've had symptoms and I suspect we've had it.

This is where testing comes in. When the antibody tests become widely available and you can confirm that you've been exposed to it and have immunity then you could resume some level of normality.

My impression is that the travel and tourism sector will be the last to have restrictions eased so testing has got to be a priority. Not just testing people with current symptoms, wholesale tests for everyone to see whether they've had it and are clear.

I watched a film on Netflix recently. And those who had received the antidote, wore a special bracelet as proof. May that is what will happen here?

We usually go for adults-only campsites with serviced pitches, and we always exclusively use our own on-board facilities. Therefore social distancing would not be a problem, and neither would sanitising at the chemical disposal point.
Staying isolated during trips out could be easily dealt with, and essential shopping would be handled in the same way as we do at home. So I do not see a problem for us if campsites were opened and on-site hygiene/distancing restrictions properly maintained.
I think the biggest snag would be because of those who did not abide by the rules.

Actually, I’ve been thinking about this overnight whilst waiting to wake up (huh!) to hear the dawn chorus at 4.30am this morning. (It’s international dawn chorus day). More than any other van owners, we Californias are happy to ‘wild camp’. Why on earth would we want to stay at a campsite with no toilet facilities. What would be paying for? If I’m allowed, I would much rather tuck myself away in a remote spot overlooking a Scottish beach.

From May 4 hotels and campsites will be open, restaurants will still be closed, food will be available for take-out. The borders will be closed anyway until the end of June, and then it is not known. For now it will be only limited national tourism, dreams of distant travels to the south of Europe are uncertain. I would be wrong

On board facilities..? It's a Cali.... not sure how your self contained? Shower?

Sounds positive
I would like to pass through France via the Channel Tunnel to Germany.
What is the best source for complying with the latest rules and regulations? and where did you read your news?

Whoops I should have directed that to @Wongo

Just add a porta potti, seems enough to be 'self contained", at least it is in Belgium and The Netherlands. Needn't take a shower every day...

Ours has a shower, not that I’ve ever used it!
We were given one of the VW shower tents that fits under the tailgate and it has never been out of the bag, but might actually get used now if it means we can get be self contained!

Bucket of hot water, stand up full body wash. No problem.
I carry a load of cheap flannels that can be used for washing and drying and put in the laundry for reuse.
Chemical porta potty either inside van or in awning/toilet tent.

Makes me laugh - I have a friend who cut the middle of one of those collapsible chairs that come out of a bag. He than placed that over his porta potti so he could use it without anyone knowing what he was up to!!!! Bit risky

Thinking “you’ve had it and are therefore immune” is a wee bit naive. We still don’t know 1) how long immunity lasts 2) what level of immunity you have 3) more than 1 strain of the virus !
