When will campsites reopen ?

I hear that Wee Crankie and that Labour guy intend to put the mockers on any early lift of lock down. I don't know how they expect to do it.

Well I’m hoping campsite lockdown will be lifted sooner rather than later.
I expect a phased approach probably 2-3 weeks behind Germany so end of May beginning of June.

The economy has to restart and tourism is an important part especially for places like Devon and Cornwall lakes ect.

So long as social distancing is maintained it hopefully should be able to do some camping this summer- that’s my tuppence.

As a key worker who has continued to work through out crisis I have noticed a doubling of traffic over the last 3 weeks to nearly normal levels today so the stay at home message IMHO has definitely reduced

We would like to keep the border closed to the South West, we have had the lowest infection rate here and would like to keep it that way

BigMac as I recall you have skin in that game?... if so, why do you think campsites won't open? Some practical reason or just a gut feel?
The trade organisation we are members off is lobbying for the privately owned part of the sector to open first, so caravans and lodges, it is relatively straight forward for private owners to use their caravans and maintain safe distance from other people. If that doesn’t happen lobbying is also going on to try to get an additional bailout for the tourism sector. We’ve just had a winter, Easter was cancelled and the way things are going we may loose most of not all of summer and then it’ll be winter again. How many tourism based business can cope with what may end up being 18 months with no income? There will be carnage in the sector without extra help.

On a personal not anything with shared facilities is a problem, we’ve risk assessed our small amenity block that serves a number of seasonal touring caravan pitches. How do we make it safe for use? We can’t constantly clean after every use and how do we make our cleaning staff 100% safe, I think it’s easier just to keep the doors locked and make the tourer owners use their own onboard facilities. If contract tracing is got off the ground I for one don’t want an outbreak tracing back to my business.

You mean the South East don't you.

You have Kent as location.

Everything will be open by the end of June. The whole thing is a ridiculous over reaction led by weak and snowflake generation politicians.

I am much more confident that there will be a general relaxation of a lot of lock-down measures since this afternoon's UK press conference. The govt spokespeople acknowledged, in terms, that R0 in the community is now very low, and that the main transmission settings contributing most of the R0 aggregate are in hospital and care home settings.

They declined to give specifics. But my take was that the govt is now much more relaxed about loosening a lot of the measures.

Will have to wait until Sunday although the pretty obvious press leaks to the press over past 24 hours point in the same direction, I'd say.

They’re potentially testing the water with these ‘leaks’. Same with Johnson’s hints in PMQs yesterday. Certainly seems the “stay home” slogan is being retired though.

Zero chance of campsites opening soon.

A rare useful article in The Sun

I think that opening holiday accommodation, including park homes would, if anything, have a positive effect on the R number.

Camping could probably be done safely but only if washing and dishwashing are staggered throughout the day instead of the 8am/8pm peaks.

Perhaps campers could be allotted time slots for the shower block and washing up facilities. Toileting obviously cannot be managed in a similar way.
