Factory Extended Warranty

I enquired about Factory extended warranty last week and was told it was not available on the California.

On the the Touareg a fourth year "Factory" extended warranty has to be purchased at order time as the build process is different?!? (Built on the Porsche line)

The VW "manufacturers" extended warranty is available at anytime.

Seems strange....unless they have dropped it for some reason. I would enquire again if it's something you want. If you read this thread there are plenty of new T6 owners that have purchased it. Also you don't have to do it before build either just before its 3 months old iirc. :thumb

Try this link on their website and click on the Factory Extended Warranty, but lots of other comments on the forum about it.

The Cali option is charged at the same price as the Transporter.

Thanks for the reassurance, I did want it as it often has less exclusions then the aftermarket warranty.
As quite a lot of people buy a California for long-term ownership then it would make sense to have the extended warranty but wouldn't necessarily want it paid for in the finance.

Was never told by the Dealer hence the 3years and replace. Unfortunately you sort of become attached to them.

Hi All

We took Delivery of the T6 Ocean 6 weeks ago. I took out & paid for the extended warranty. Has anyone else done this and received any paperwork to acknowledge the additional warranty? I have a credit card receipt but nothing else and just wondered if I have mislaid something or should have received something from the dealer?

I emailed VW Cust Serv and the Dealer last week but no response as yet, and so thought I'd raise the question to find out what others have got.

Gained a response from VW Customer Care that it seems as though there was an admin error and no extended warranty was actually in place on my vehicle. They have contacted the dealer though, who have emailed to advise that they will deal with this for me & confirm once sorted. [If only they had responded to my initial question a few weeks back, then I wouldn't have had to contact VW Customer Care].

Anyway, glad I checked as I only had the credit card receipt in my possession for the Extended Warranty.

Dear all, UPDATE on extended warranty in case you are new to this long thread. I have a vehicle on order and on 5th August my dealer confirmed the extended factory warranty, as referred to before on this thread, (£329 plus VAT etc etc etc) is still available.

The factory warranty is available from order until the 90th day after registration of the van. 3 options 4th year and 2 x 5 year options

My dealer mentioned most of that apart from the 90 day bit but that's not surprising as I voiced an intent to buy at the time of vehicle collection (January ). The only thing he did mention was that by formally registering with him an intent to buy he would ensure he would honour today's price should it rise (they don't seem to rise very often). He even sent me by email mail a little booklet about it (that does mention the 3 month bit). Bottom line is, its good to know that as of today it's still something we can get if we want.

What a great forum! :)

Guy in Preston has just revised my order to include the £329 80k/2yr extended warranty. I doubt I'll use it but it's very nice to know it's there.

I know I'm a pessimist, but I think the odds are that you will use it, but even if not, the peace of mind it brings is well worth the cost.

Has to be said, it is stunning value considering the purchase price of the car. Doubly so as we live on an island which means £500+ just to get her to main dealer to have something fixed...

And as someone that has recently sold another VAG car that was falling apart around me I'm with you on the reliability front. All is not well in VW quality control, but it's a complex vehicle and some of that is to be expected. It's the way VW deal with the issues that do arise that matters, hence the interest in something contractually binding!

We have the extended warranty ,peace of mind for a complex vehicle .
Also good to have if decide to sell in the future.

Having had a month of significant outgoings on our non-cali vehicles, the extended warranty, at this price, is on my list of extras - it would virtually pay for itself with one repair.

Has anyone taken out this extended warranty recently, is it still £329 for two years and is there a claim limit?

@Loz does the extended warranty include VW Assistance or does that need to be taken out separately at the end of year 3?

VW assistance extra not part of extended warranty

I would also be interested to learn if this includes VW Assistance, if it does that makes it awsome value !

I took extended warranty 2016 & didnt include VW assistance :(
