Sorry we didn't know about brook meadow. We have booked 2 nights at Billing Aquadrome just 11 miles South of Kettering.

See you all Sunday.

Chris and Liz :hello

Hey guys, a quick heads up I had a very bad experience on billing aquadrome I don't want to go into too much details on here but I'd check trip advisor to see if its got any better.

I'd never - ever - stay again!- If you'd like to discuss over the phone I'm more than happy to have a chat with you :thumb

Cheers
Nick

Ooh, Thanks for that Nick. Have just checked out trip adviser and like most places, they have good and bad reviews. Unfortunately, we have already paid, so fingers crossed!!!!

Regards,

Chris and Liz

What time are most of you fellow Cali owners arriving at Wickstead park as I don't want to arrive to late
See you all on Sunday

Alasdair

Yes I will be there a little bit before that but midday is fine. Looks like the weather will be good :thumb

Is anyone camping at Brook Meadow?

Also, is Grafham Water worth visiting? Just looking for somewhere not to far from Kettering to go for a wander for the day.

Cheers,
dan.

There are quite a few country parks near Kettering - most of them are good for walking and biking around.

Grafham is big and has bike hire and a nice café. Rutland is bigger (about 26 miles around) and a bit further away, but has several stops on the way round. Pitsford is probably the closest to Kettering and is smaller so you can walk around if you like, but can get busy on a nice day with bike and walkers.

All those 3 are described here: http://www.anglianwater.co.uk/leisure/w ... /pitsford/

If you are with kids consider http://www.stanwicklakes.org.uk/northampton/ as this has a massive climbing frame with water for the kids to play in - also has a good café and wildlife hides and several nice walks.

Also look at this site:
http://www.northamptonshire.gov.uk/en/c ... fault.aspx

We use Sywell, Irchester, Brampton Valley Way, Fermyn Wood and Brixworth (which is the other name for pitsford above)

I am making the Kettering area sound really rather nice - I should work at the council!!!

You will also feel the love for Wickstead park on Sunday which has some nice walks around the lake, and a massive free playground for kids (also has paid for rides - like a low rent Alton Towers - but these will probably be closed until Easter.

Hope that helps

Tony

St. Albans area of Hertfordshire, so not too far away.

Are there any large camping stores in this region??

Kettering is not much of a shopping destination. We tend to go to Milton Keynes or Nottingham. Leicester is also close. I think the nearest big camping store is Go, in Coventry.

In Wellinghborough there is an independant one called bestbuys http://www.best-buys.co.uk. Not as big as the chains, but covers the essentials.

There is a go in milton keynes and bedford as well, so depends where you are coming from.

I consider the lack of shopping outlets a bonus of living near kettering :)

There is also white arches in Wellingborough that is quite large :thumb

Sorry all, not going to be able to make it. Van has broken down, just been towed home by the RAC.
