Went to mark wheelwright at West Yorkshire van centre as recommended on here and he was brilliant. Brought cali to our house for us to test drive and went through all our options / questions.Ordered an Ocean 150 dsg. Starlight blue - he's luckily got a caravelle in that colour at the moment so we're not just guessing. Navigation plus and premium display. Cruise with side scan after advice on here put us off the Acc. Parking sensors with reverse camera. Towbar - going for that option over bike rack.heated front windscreen. Light and vision pack. Multi function steering wheel and a few other bits. Got 6%discount - more than happy with that. He's quoting 16 week delivery but we're going to wait for 16 plate so no rush. Feel sick with excitement!

I do like the idea of the heated windscreen although the other option is to keep the remote control for the heater in the house and turn it on 15 mins before setting of for work on those cold frosty mornings in winter.
Feeling sick now, just wait till the night before pick up.

Both our Discovery and Defender had heated front screens. Stone chips played havoc with them. The Defender was better probably due to the screen angle. Not an option I would look at on the Cali

We ordered our ocean yesterday. The upholstery has changed to moonrock. The dealer could only show us photos from the website but as there isn't any option available and it looks good - to us anyway - it didn't matter not seeing it in the flesh. A Google search brings up photos. Hope that helps.

Hope you like your california when it arrives, we have a t5 conversion from three bridge campers and will be hiring it out, then using the new one for ower selves, what shade did you go for.

Starlight Blue for colour.
Had decided that was our favourite before going and luckily dealer had a t6 caravelle in that colour.

Sorry I don't know enough about the trim to answer that. The dealer said he couldn't show us the new moonrock upholstery as it wasn't on any of the t5 california he had in stock. We're not paying extra for Alcantara so don't know what colours are available. I'm sure someone on this forum will know more.

Just taking off the California badging and the engine type badging on the tailgate. It will still have the VW badge front and back and still have the beach or ocean graphic on the side.

Yeah that's why I'm going for it.
Especially now the t6 comes with beach or ocean written on the side it is pretty clear to everyone what car it is. Plus the engine thing, I know what engine it is - no-one else needs to.
I did have a t5 I started to convert and I put the badges on as it was a clean tailgate. In hindsight I thought the cleaner back end looked better.
It's all a matter of taste I suppose.

There was a suggestion earlier on the forum that the VW dealer network were being encouraged / forced to quickly clear the decks of their existing new T5 Cali's. I note that VW Campersales has just added 3 x September 15 reg Cali's each with 80 miles on the clock. I wonder if the events are connected?

Is there much point in ordering at the moment to have to commit to a purchase you won't receive for at least 8 months. Maybe better to wait and order next year when early teething problems might be resolved and a better discount is on offer.

Did think of waiting but from 1st April 2017 the VED goes up by £1800. You pay VED plus a £450/yr surcharge for the first 4 years because its valued over £40,000 and anyway I got a reasonable discount.

I just called a Munich VW dealer to get some information on radios that I can't get in the Canary Islands and they told me they are anticipating a 4 month wait for purchase in Munich of a Beach 150hp, 4motion DSG.
