Who's ordered a T6?!

Well done with pulling the trigger. Very nice spec. See you have not gone for the Satnav option. I was also thinking of leaving this off when I eventually place my order as I would not be tied to the fitted option. Also would go for the same driving assistance options bar the Hill Descent Control as can't see myself needing that. Also ACC a step to far. Only other places I would differ is the Bi-Xeon lights (Price but I may be persuaded) and detachable tow bar as I live in flat and have no storage. So it will be the VW bike rack. Did not know you could get the diff lock - interesting.
Thanks for the full spec and enjoy:)

Hello all.

After wanting a VW camper for some time, I rented a T5 Cali for 9 days last year in December 2014.
This was a great birthday present to myself plus a chance to be sure that we could use it during
the colder months.
Glad I did it. Loved it. Here I am now.
I've done the deed & placed the order last week. Asked for a March 2016 delivery.
If you see a smug git driving this out of Glasgow towards Aberdeen in March, you'll know it's me...

This is the full spec:
T6 Ocean 204ps 4Motion DSG

Reflex Silver
Differential Lock (1Y4. Not in the brochure but this is the code if you want it.)
Front/Rear Heavy Duty Anti-Roll Bars
18" Springfield Alloys - not the shiny ones. Been told they are not suitable for 4Motion Cali's
Hill Descent Control
Front Assist inc Emergency City Braking
Front/Rear Parking Sensors + Reversing Camera
Bi-Xenon Lights
Heated Front Screen
Heated Rear Window + Wash Wipe
Lights & Vision Pack
Silver Awning/Housing
Composition Media with 6.33" screen
App Connect
Cruise Control + Multifunction Steering including Sidescan
Type 6 Cupboard (Shower)
Lockable Storage Compartment
Bed Extension & Cover
Privacy/Heat Insulating Glass
Front & Rear Mudflaps
Charcoal Canister
Detachable Tow Bar inc electrics
Wind Deflectors
Seat Covers

Was told it will take 10 days from order to be fully on VW's system. Will wait
& see what happens after that.

Cheers for now.
Good luck Tommy thats some spec - lots of conflicting messages and doom on here ref T6 delivery dates, but I too am hopeful of a 1/3/16 registration. My dealer is confident almost to the point of cockyism

Hi Mike.

I didn't bother with the Sat Nav as I'm very used to a certain navigation app on my phone (which is the shorthand version of my name said twice.)

The Hill Descent Control was only £75. Probably won't need it but for that price I thought why not.

I went for the tow bar purely to use as for mounting bikes on. The rented Cali (see my avatar pic) had the
bike rack, but I really wasn't keen on the reduced vision out the back. Should be better for me this way.

My missus had Bi-Xenons on her Tiguan & I remember them fondly. For me, it was a bit like going from VHS to DVD thinking it's not bad, but when you go back to VHS - you really understand the difference!!

Agree with you about Adaptive Cruise Control. My old man has this on his Audi. I didn't like it
at all, so glad that VW offer Front Assist/City Braking on the Cali without it.

Cheers

Tom,

Yep in that case hill descent is a no brainer and I shall look at the Bi-Xenons. Might be a toss up with the wheels upgrade as I shall have to show some restraint :)

Thanks Tim.

I'm not 100% confident of its delivery date. Hopefully we will both be picking up our shiny new Cali's
on the same day & all the best to you when you do. You're right - plenty folk are expressing delivery date doubts. Time will tell. Fingers crossed all goes to plan

Cheers

Mike,

If you go for the factory-fit Bi-Xenons, you could still get the bigger wheels at a later date.
This way, you can keep the wheels in your sights !

Cheers
Tom

Very true - good shout! Factory fits have got to be the ones to go for when a decision is required. Ta!

How much was the diff lock option.? Also just had the dealer on the phone saying I cant have the bigger brakes and roll bars with the std 17" wheels on the ocean and need to have the other 17 or 18" wheels for this.

Hi Chris.

£575 for the Diff Lock.
Some info that might be of use to know - believe it is electronically operated via a button on the dash. The 4Motion Caravelles/Transporters apparently have a Mechanical version of this. On the Cali it has to be electronicaly operated, but I don't know why. Dealer told me that 2 pins within the diff will slide & lock the rear axle after you press the button (or something similar.)

I did go for 18" wheels & there were no clashes on my order entries.

Hope the above helps
Cheers
Tom

Thanks for this info as might just add the diff locks and hill decent along with the other 17" wheels. In the end I want to get it right as hope to keep it for quite some time. 18" wheels and maybe slightly lower springs can be done later on. Although I am getting chrome side bars fitted. How much were the wind delfectors. My spec almost the same as yours except heated front and rear windows and we went satnav option instead.

If anyone wants a LHD....decent prices with the exchange rate, you just need to work out the import.

http://www.autoscout24.ch/de/wohnmobile/82--t6?make=82&model=2176&st=1&vehtyp=70

This is a very interesting link. The exchange rate is 1 CHF = £0.68. I don't know what the tax situation is, but they appear bargains. Interesting example here: http://www.autoscout24.ch/de/d/vw-t.../82--t6?make=82&model=2176&st=1&vehtyp=70&r=5 appears to be less than £36k! What am I missing?

And don't forget that if you buy in Switzerland the VAT is 8% (which you'll get back when you export it), but then you'd have to pay VAT in the UK when you import and register it. If I remember correctly UK VAT is 18% and so you'll have to add 10% plus all the admin fees. Still quite a good deal though.

Point to note: The Cali Coast is a model that's not available in the UK. It's like an Ocean but with much less electrical stuff, roof mirrors, power latching etc. I ordered an Ocean with all the bells and whistles and for less than this Coast, I just have to wait until March-ish to take delivery :-(

Chris,

The wind deflectors were £40 for the pair.
The heated rear window + wash wipe is a no cost option & very useful. I couldn't say no to that.

I was told you lost the insulated rear window if you went heated, hence I did not go for it.

Hmm.

I ordered Privacy/Heat Insulating Glass & the Heated Rear Screen + Washwipe.
Dealer assured me there was no options clash & he didn't say anything about losing
any heat insulating aspect of the rear window.
Looking back at the options list, I'm starting to suspect that you're probably right.
Oh well... if I do lose it, I guess I'll be cranking-up the parking heater a notch or 2.
Alternatively, I might be able to source some form of heat-insulating 'blind' that I can
stick to the inside of the rear window during the night to reduce heat loss.

I use the rear wiper on my car a lot. If push comes to shove, I'll stick with the wiper.
I'd rather have the improved visibility out back that the rear wiper offers for wet / salty conditions, but that's
just my own preference. You'll be warmer when you're parked-up.

Cheers

Just had a message from Guy at Preston VW saying that I have a (provisional) week 50 build. So that would mean mid to late Jan. I'll wait until march 1st for the new plates I reckon.
Woo hoo!

That is correct, if you choose the heated rear window you lose the double glazing.

Lets face it, it is a van and any reversing is done using the wing mirrors so we kep the double glazing.

Angus - you are right. I'm not seeing the wood for the trees here.
Good man. Thanks.
I'll remove the heated part, go for the insulated glass & get to keep the wiper.
Thanks again

No problem! The price list is a minefield, I'm sure my dealer is fed up of my emails!

Just had the dealer on the phone and they now saying the 17" brakes option option is no longer available as it was deemed not necessary.

This is a fabulous thread. Going to save my dealer and myself a big headache when I get to order. :)

What did he mean by this?

Will all now come with 16" or 17" as standard? Are 16" no longer or 17" no longer?

Sorry - I'm confused.

From what they were saying originally that the 17" brakes could only be with other 17 or 18" wheels apart from the std 17" ones on the ocean. But then after getting on to VW the found out that now the 17" brake option is no longer deemed as needed and has been removed from being an option and they will refund the cost of this item. You can still spec any wheel size just not the bigger 17" brake/ chassis option.

I can also confirm that they are taking diff locks and hill decent options as stated above.

I don't know if this is the same on the beach, but I suspect it might be. Has any other dealers come back with this as this was just today.

Hi all, we had previously been close to signing up for a new T5 but we decided to wait for the T6. So we waited and have just put down a deposit on a new T6. We hired a T5 last summer, it rained every day and wife was 7 months pregnant! Still had a great time though so decided to go for the T6. I really liked Olympian blue but will be going for Acapulco blue now as the other seems a bit too dark and after having some black cars in the past I know any dark colour will very quickly look dirty and I don’t want to be washing it every day. I was struggling to find images of the different wheel options and the salesman sent through the images. I will try and attach them to this post. Still not sure which wheel option. Any missing items from our options?
