Who's ordered a T6?!

Hi all, we had previously been close to signing up for a new T5 but we decided to wait for the T6. So we waited and have just put down a deposit on a new T6. We hired a T5 last summer, it rained every day and wife was 7 months pregnant! Still had a great time though so decided to go for the T6. I really liked Olympian blue but will be going for Acapulco blue now as the other seems a bit too dark and after having some black cars in the past I know any dark colour will very quickly look dirty and I don’t want to be washing it every day. I was struggling to find images of the different wheel options and the salesman sent through the images. I will try and attach them to this post. Still not sure which wheel option. Any missing items from our options?

With regards to alloys, save your money. Very expensive upgrades from vw. Buy some really nice load rated alloys and then flog your new T6 VW wheels and tyres for good money on ebay or VW T5 Facebook forum. You will then recoup a lot of your outlay.

I can also confirm that they are taking diff locks and hill decent options as stated above.

I've been told today there's no manual diff lock on the 4motion but it comes with an electronic one (EDL)

We were thinking of the 4 motion but it seems you can't have a 5th seat with 4 motion as it only has 2 rails for the rear seat. The 2 wheel drive has 3 rails to enable the 5th seat option.

You may know already but just in case... Going for the heated rear window you will loose the double glazed rear window..... Dealer may have already pointed this out to you

Looks great. I wouldn't choose the Cascaval alloys, just because they were available on the T5.

I'm not sure if it's standard on the T6 but the 3 Zone Climate is a great option, and certainly one that helps with resale. It cannot be retrofitted either.

Standard on the Ocean and an option on beach I believe.

Thanks for the good advice. Think I'll go for the standard wheel option, then maybe a more individual upgrade later on. I was thinking of a second set of wheels anyway as I want a set of winter tyres and a summer set.

Dealer called me today to say the build has been brought forward to November, happy days, just in time for xmas! Just wondering if people are cancelling due to the VW issues.

hmmm - same here ... dealer confirmed my Beach T6 build date brought forward to November. Now rethinking plan to register for 1/3/16

Same here. Maybe better to collect on the 3rd January.

I'm trying to work out what might be best (registration-wise). I am planning to rent out my Cali and possibly sell after 6-12months and start again. Do you think the 16 rather than 65 plate would make a significant impact on resale value or is the remainder of the warranty the biggest factor?

Warranty, as far as I'm concerned. Although if you delay pick-up the vehicle will be left in the Dealers parking lot over the Winter Months, and unlikely to be kept under cover.

That's a good point WelshGas. Thanks. Will have to see when in 2016 it's delivered.

Hey all.

Just been given week 1 for my build week. Been told that end of February / start of March is realistic for collection, so a new plate it will be. My German is non-existent, but I had a shot of the German VW website configurator anyway. Should look something like this. Chances of a good night's sleep the evening before collection = nil.
Cheers for now. Cali 1.jpg Cali 2.jpg

That looks brilliant. The silver with silver awning looks really good.
If you use Chrome on the german configurator it translates it for you.

Cheers Dave & good thinking.
I've got a very out-of-date version of explorer here at work (yes I'm skiving !!)
Never thought about a translator - so I just took a punt !!

Swore a couple of times but got there in the end.

Hi Dale hope mine is on same boat... conformation from V W customer service today mine is built... dealer should see it mid to end of Nov ?????

SusiBus is going T6

Having sold SusiBus T5 last January to another forum member, which was a really hard decision to make because she was back and sitting on the front drive having been away at a VW dealer and AB Crush for three months ! All her ailments had been sorted, including roof corrosion, which had consumed so much of our life together (which those who were forum members three years or so ago might remember), she just looked perfect. AB Crush did an amazing job bringing her body back to showroom condition, it was like she'd had been away for a three month holiday to spa for vans, and had come back a new woman.
But she had to go, we were in the middle of a major house rebuild, she would just sit there going nowhere, pining for the open road, getting covered in builders dust.

The deed was done and we went our separate ways.

To be honest, the thought of having a younger SusiBus (with warranty !) to spend the next three years with was rather appealing, SusiBus T5 would be replaced by SusiBus T6 !

Well the house build remains unfinished, l do remember reading that having major building work done was only slighty less stressful than getting separated, so it proved, but we are still talking to the builder. I have now done both - separated from Susi and the rebuild thing - it's time to move on!

PURCHASE MANTRA,

If we want the option, it's only money that will only go to the government in care costs or tax, so SPEC IT IN, VW need the money at the moment!

I've found it very helpful when others have posted their reasons for choosing or not various options when specing up their Cali ,so I'll try and do the same in the hope it might be helpful to someone. I't will probably be a bit rambling like my intro, so I hope you don't lose the will to live while reading it.

204 PS OCEAN
4-MOTION --- Not an option l'd spec'd when buying our T5, but it came with it, makes the Cali feel very planted on the road, especially when pressing on, on twisting hilly roads etc, We mainly wild camp, never worry about pulling off road, or gaining access to that special spot with the view at the top of a hill, doesn't scrub tires when climbing the tightest mountain hairpins, now a must have option!
DSG---Brilliant, test drive one and see, try it in manual mode so so slick, but in practice you'll leave it in auto, perfect partner with 4-MO. Must have option.
MET INDIUM GREY---Discrete for wild camping, not too bad at showing bush scratches when access those special locations down narrow lanes.
N7N ALCANTARA/LEATHER--- Leather sides, more durable than light grey cloth

......... to be continued - it's past midnight and all grandads should be in bed!
